Our breeding behavior:
The Dutch Shepherd is a dog that tends to be well-known and has the same listening and use predispositions as the Malinois, with which it shares common origins. In the 19th century, he was a dog intended for leading flocks, and his mission was to prevent the arrival of strangers to the farm, as well as to keep poultry from the kitchen garden.
From the 1900s, herds were becoming increasingly rare in the Netherlands, new uses had to be found for this versatile dog. It was therefore used as a police, search and tracking dog, but also as an assistance dog.
It has therefore become a breed authorized for biting, which allows it to be a sports dog and, to be used by administrations (Police), as well as in private security. However, it is still very "exotic" on competition grounds just like dog shows. But his magnificent brindle dress sets him apart. Its color can be translated into a palette of shades ranging from golden color that can vary from light sand to chestnut red. The background color is gold or silver.
Our love for the Dutch Shepherd has led us to only use dogs with an FCI pedigree; that is to say a genealogy of which we can affirm the belonging to the race. We do not wish to use KNPV type lines which only attach importance to working qualities to the detriment of the conformity and characteristics of the breed.
The Dutch Shepherd must be able to remain a family dog and show his qualities and his polivalence in all the canine activities available to him.
It is not a category dog and you therefore do not need a declaration from the town hall and no muzzle obligation during walks.
The Dutch Shepherd is a dog who loves water and is very close to the owner and his family. It is an athletic and sporty dog, a sheepdog as its name suggests, and therefore enduring. This is a quality that allows him to practice canicross perfectly but also a small "bomb" which can be very fast and agile for agility courses for example.
It is a dog who is balanced and will perfectly play the role of the family dog while raising the guard from his instincts. Also, our guideline is to produce dog with working qualities. While not neglecting the morphology and sociability that will make it a good family dog without overlooking the health. We could summarize the vision of our breeding, in these few words:
- Passion,
- Selection,
- Qualities of work,
- Versatility,
- morphological qualities,
- Reproducers tracked and controlled and certified origins.
In order to enhance the morphology of our breeders (stallion and lice), we participate very regularly in dog shows in France but also abroad. It has become a real passion for us to travel across Europe with our dogs and participate in the promotion and development of the breed.
We are thus, at least once or twice a month on the roads of France but also abroad. Our geographical situation offers us a proximity of the Benelux countries where we expose regularly. We do not miss either, the big meetings of the Championship of France and the Nationals of breeding as much as possible.
All our lists are screened for hip dysplasia and / or hip and elbow dysplasia, Spondylosis. Also genetic tests like Degenerative Myelopathy, SDCA1 and SDCA2...
Locus K and D can also be depressed on some of our dogs. All our dogs present and reproducing at the breeding have the genetic identification (DNA). This identification is a tamper-proof identity card and guarantees the origin of your puppy because it is now possible to genetically verify the relationship of your puppy. The DNA identification made on both parents guarantees that your puppy is from the marriage between the two parents announced. Why do we focus our selection around the discipline IGP ?
Because it is a complete discipline, involving tracking, obedience and defense (biting). This allows for a broader view of the qualities of the dog, appealing to the olfaction, obedience and courage for the defense. It still leaves an initiative of the dog for tracking part but also a great rigor.
It is a discipline not widespread in France, but nevertheless sovereign abroad. In particular, there is the Dutch Championship exclusively reserved for the Dutch Shepherd, which takes place every year. The year 2014 will see the first Dutch Shepherd World Championship in the discipline IGP.

How we select stallions? The rigorous selection standards that we use is focused on lines mainly foreign FCI. Indeed, abroad, it is easier to find standards screened over several generations, who practice discipline while respecting the breed standard. In parallel, we attach great reflection on the origins carefully studying the pedigrees of each. They must have great qualities and morphological work. Screenings of defects such as dysplasia (hips / elbows and) K (brindle color) E locus, locus, DNA ...
We do not hesitate to make kms across Europe (Netherlands, Czech Republic ...) to find the male who will meet our expectations and complement the best qualities and defects will erase our bitches.
